One thing about my reviewing is I review what is in front of me and nothing more. A few years ago I had a negative impression about Cakebread and both my brother and I were amazed at how good the wines were. Well that same impression with Rombauer esepcially the Chardonnay but while they are still using oak it is not what I once remember and the wines offer so much more. Tasted at Haskell’s Minnetonka.
Here are the results:
- 2023 Rombauer Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc – USA, California, North Coast (11/22/2025)
Well tried 4 Rombauer wines and had not tasted them in years and way better than I remember. Grass, lemon, lime, grapefruit and minerals. A light offering overall but refreshing. (88 points)

- 2023 Rombauer Vineyards Chardonnay – USA, California, Napa / Sonoma, Carneros (11/22/2025)
Honestly had low expectations but this was very good. Yes oak is present but offers lemon, apple, spice, vanilla, dust and some nice minerality. Everyone blind will think Cali Chardonnay but very enjoyable overall. (90 points)

- 2023 Rombauer Vineyards Pinot Noir – USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands (11/22/2025)
Solid Pinot Noir with floral, strawberries, raspberries, underbrush and violets. Pleasant and shows the classic style from Santa Lucia. (89 points)

- 2022 Rombauer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley – USA, California, Napa Valley (11/22/2025)
Ok this was solid and surprised but maybe Rombauer is dialing back that oak treatment in their wines. Nice fruit featuring cassis, blueberry and plum. Spice, dark chocolate, wood and dust. Medium plus finish. Would drink another glass. (91 points)

Nice to know. Trust your palate
Thanks Jax.
