Morét-Brealynn Winery Alert

Everyone knows I know wine and don’t hold back on promoting good wine and really bad wine. Well on Facebook I made a comment that California makes no good Rose and Adam Lee to the rescue sent me this wine:

2024 Morét-Brealynn Rosé of Pinot Noir – USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands (10/23/2025)
Day 1: Outstanding quality with nice acidity. Strawberries, watermelon, spice, dust, rose petals and stone. Very complex for a Rose and I drink them at room temperature and this is outstanding quality. Yes sir! 91+
Day 2: Even better. Drinking these around 65 degrees. Full flavor of course. Chery, watermelon, spice, rose petals, stone, strawberries and dust. Medium plus finish and this drinks well on its own so a serious wine for sure. Nice acidity. 92 points
Day 3: Excellent and holding form of the quality of day 2. Love the fruit featuring cherry, watermelon and strawberries. Nice acidity and also features rose petals, stone, dust and some earth. Medium finish. 92 points
Recommendation: Highly recommended. For me to give a domestic Rose 90 is tough but this is better than that. (92 points)

Last night my friends Tom and Bruna and I tasted wines via Zoom with Moret. What a fun and enjoyable meeting. Here are the notes from this event.

  • 2024 Morét-Brealynn Pinot Noir – USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (12/9/2025)
Day 1: Screw Cap. Much more approachable than the Russian River Valley. Perfume, spice, floral, earth, mint, rosemary, raspberries and cranberry. Medium finish and nice acidity. 93 points
Day 2: Cranberry, cherry, raspberries, floral, smoke, earth and rosemary. Aged 10 months in barrel. Dijon Clones 115 and 777. Medium plus finish. Really like it. 93 points
Day 3: Really digging the fruit on day 3 with raspberries, sour berries, cranberry and cherry. Picks up some spice, dust and earth on the medium plus finish. A nice mineral streak as well. Well made and balanced is the theme with Moret’s wines. 93 points
Recommendation: Equally delicious as the Russian River Valley.

Aged 10 months in oak, 40% New French, unfiltered and natural yeast. Classic wine making. (93 pts.)
  • 2024 Morét-Brealynn Pinot Noir – USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (12/9/2025)
Day 1: Screw Cap. Very nice with earth, dried flowers, spices, minerals, sour cherry, boysenberries, wafer and leather. Medium finish. 92 points
Day 2: Zoom with Moret. Cranberry, spice, cherry, strawberries, wood, minerals and floral notes. Medium finish. Very good indeed and a touch better on day 2. 92.5 points
Day 3: The best showing and more lively. Cherry, funk, spices, strawberries, wood, floral, minerals and crushed stones. Medium plus finish. Nice acidity. A really stellar wine. 93 points
Recommendation: For sure a great example of Russian River Valley in regards to balanced and quality wine at a reasonable price.

Natural yeast, unfiltered, 60% new oak 145 cases made. (93 pts.)
  • 2024 Morét-Brealynn Pinot Noir Lakeview Vineyard – USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (12/9/2025)
Day 1: Screw Cap. The second I tasted this it screamed classic Russian River Valley Pinot. Strawberries, smoke, rose petals, matchstick, cherry, earth and dust. Super complex wine and a real stunner. One of the better Pinots I have tasted from California in a while. 94+
Day 2: My favorite of the lineup. Wafer, forest floor, oak, cranberry, strawberries, mushrooms, spice and violets. Medium plus finish. Very small production. Medium plus finish. 94+ points
Day 3: Savory wine with soy, forest floor, wafer, cranberry, strawberries, mushrooms, violets, spices and dust. Complex wine and balanced is the key word here! Medium plus finish. Wonderful effort and great new discovery in 2025. 95 points
Recommendation: Not many Pinots achieving a 3 Day Review at 95 or higher in 2025. Cheers.

5 barrels of this wine. 80 cases total. Natural yeast and unfiltered. Wonderful! (95 pts.)
  • 2024 Morét-Brealynn Pinot Noir Sexton Vineyard – USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (12/9/2025)
Day 1: Screw Cap. Sour cherry, spice, celery, iron, dried flowers, minerals and charcoal. Not as good as the Lakeview on initial pour. Will be sampling over 3 days. 89 points
Day 2: Well this is why 2 and 3 day reviews are necessary. Tight on day 1 and would not buy again. Spice, pepper, earth, mushrooms, light smoke, cranberries, sour cherry and boysenberries. Medium plus finish. 92 points
Day 3: Bright and fresh on day 3 and the best showing. Wafer, dust, cranberry, sour cherry, raspberries, white pepper, cedar and a touch of smoke. Medium plus and very dry in style. Wonderful effort. 92.5 points
Recommendation: This wine needs about 3 to 5 years to rock out! (92 pts.)
  • 2023 Morét-Brealynn Cabernet Sauvignon – USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley (12/11/2025)
Day 1: Ok fun stuff. Fermented in Pinot Barrels. Love it. Dark purple with boysenberries, plum, spices, perfume, floral, wood, earth and perfume. Medium plus finish and nice acidity. 92 points
Day 2: Well of course solid with plum, dark berries, spices, wood, earth, perfume, crushed stones, dust and matchstick. Medium plus finish. Excellent and fun wine. 93 points.
Recommendation: Ain’t going to make it to day 3. Very solid wine.

85 cases made. 1 months in barrel. 60% French Oak. From the Hillside Vineyard in Santa Rosa. (93 pts.)
