Bevan Cellars in MN Tonight

Well Russell Bevan is quite the presenter and what a great lineup for just $30 from Haskell’s Minnetonka. Amazing time with friends and lots of laughs. Good wines overall for sure.

• 2023 Bevan Cellars Sauvignon Blanc Dry Stack Vineyard – USA, California, Sonoma County, Bennett Valley
  Very nice with honey, spice, lemon curds, tropical fruit and floral notes. Very nice wine and stainless steel fermentation. Not filtered. (92 pts.)

• 2021 Bevan Cellars Chardonnay Bennett Valley – USA, California, Sonoma County
  Russell himself said he did not like this wine. I found it good but even at the great price offered would not buy any. Vanilla, oak, spice, Carmel, floral and smoke. The fruit is lacking here and hence not that interesting. Really the only wine at the tasting that I didn’t care for but would still drink a glass. (88 pts.)
• 2022 Bevan Cellars Ontogeny – USA, California, Napa Valley
  My least favorite of the reds tonight. Sweet fruits, spices, oak, plum, menthol, dark chocolate and medium plus finish. A rich wine a bit over the top for me. (90 pts.)

• 2021 Bevan Cellars Proprietary Red Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard – USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
  Very good with plenty of room to improve over time. Firm tannins, cherry, blueberries, violets, spice and earth. Very flavorful wine and has 15 to 20 years of potential 55% Cabernet Franc/45% Merlot. Fun wine. 93-96. (93 pts.)

• 2021 Bevan Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard – USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
  Got a signed bottle from the tasting from Russell. Now that guy is cool!!! Smooth overall with eucalyptus, blue currants, wood, mint, dust, earth, dried flowers, coffee beans, spices and cherry. Medium to long finish. Should improve over time for sure but 94 points tonight. (94 pts.)

• 2023 Bevan Cellars EE Red Wine – USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
  65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Cabernet Franc. Firms tannins and some buttery notes. Oak, dark fruits, earth, dust, cigar, dark chocolate, vanilla and floral. Needs some time to develop. Young. 93+ (93 pts.)

• 2023 Bevan Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard – USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
  Tied with the 21 for my wine of the night. 100% Cabernet with oak, blueberries, spice, wood, dark cherry and baking chocolate. Medium plus finish. Nice acidity as well. Very good. Insane that Jeb Dunnick gave this 100 points. This is not even close to a 100 point wine. (94 pts.)
