Another solid event at Liz’s. The food outshined the wines along with the social element. While the $50 price point was recommended many did not deliver at that price point.

- 2024 Smoky Rose Cellars Syrah Rosé – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
These are some of the most overpriced Rose wines in America. Simple and watered down. Dust, stone, chalk and light fruit. Short finish. I don’t get them. (75 pts.) - 2024 Meyer-Näkel Spätburgunder Ahr Rosé – Germany, Ahr
Simple stuff with watermelon, spice, floral and spice. Much better than the smoky rose rose but not saying much. (83 pts.) - 2023 Château Carbonnieux Blanc – France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
Solid wine overall with lemon, minerals, white flowers, dust and tropical fruit. Refreshing offering. (90 pts.)

- 2021 Kelly Fleming Wines Sauvignon Blanc – USA, California, Napa Valley
A touch too sweet with lemon, ripe melon, spice and dust. Acidity levels are lacking. Not a good QPR. (81 pts.) - 2019 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis 1er Cru Côte de Léchet – France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
Good but nothing special. $50 could be spent elsewhere. Very light with shells, orange peel, lemon, spice and white flowers. Medium finish and nice acidity. (90 pts.)

- 2022 Black Cordon Vineyards Chardonnay Reserve – USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
Tastes like a $15 Total Wine Bottom Shelf selection. Can’t believe this is $60. A slight chemical taste along with muted fruit, spices, wood and vanilla. Just not my style. (82 pts.)

- 2023 Flowers Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast – USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
A drinkable Pinot but a bit pricy for the quality. Strawberries, cranberry, spices, cherry and floral notes. A touch of sweetness. (89 pts.)

- 2020 Papapietro Perry Pinot Noir Peters Vineyard – USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
Hard to believe the price point on this wine for the low quality. A hint of smoke taint on this with some ashy finish. Muted fruits with spices, pepper and floral notes. (80 pts.)

- 2022 Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir Volcanic – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills
Tied with Abbott Claim as my favorite wine. Earth, mushrooms, violets, strawberries, cherry and rose petals. Medium plus finish. Very balanced and nice acidity. Well made. (93 pts.)

- 2019 Abbott Claim Pinot Noir Abbott Claim Vineyard – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Yamhill-Carlton
My last bottle with forest floor, strawberries, mushrooms, spices, rose petals, earth and forest floor. Very Burg like and love it. (93 pts.) - 2022 Waypoint Pinot Noir Starscape Vineyard – USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
These last bottle Pinots are hardly every good. Overpriced and then they pretend with a bid discount they will be good. NO! Boring with light fruit, dirt and spices. Short and uninspiring finish. (73 pts.) - 2023 Boissett Family Estates Cabernet Sauvignon OLD WINERY ROAD RESERVE – USA, California, Napa Valley
A simple offering and not a fan of the Boissett wines. Not nearly as bad as Caymus but corporate for sure. Oak, vanilla, sweet cherries, plum and spice. Lacks complexity. (84 pts.)

- 2021 Antinori Chianti Classico Marchese Antinori Riserva Tenuta Tignanello – Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Classico DOCG
Another good showing with leather, earth, raspberries, sour cherry, earth and floral notes. Nice acidity and minerality on the finish. (92 pts.)

- 2022 Martinelli Zinfandel Giuseppe & Luisa – USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
Not a fan of this style but drinkable. A little hot with dark fruits, spices and floral notes. Strong and needs ribs. (88 pts.)

- 2018 Lawrelin Winery Transition Boushey Vineyard – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Yakima Valley
Good but needs to open up. Stone, earth, floral, red currants and underbrush. Medium finish. (90 pts.)

- 2004 Turley Zinfandel Rancho Escondido – Mexico, Baja California
Past peak and getting port like. Not a fan of Turley wines in general but fun to try. baked plums, spices, earth and pepper. No score given as a bit past peak. Mid 80s

- 2020 Penfolds Bin 8 – Australia, South Australia
Good overall with blackberries, smoke, black pepper and floral notes. Good value. (90 pts.) - 2022 Williamson Wines Zinfandel Scandal – USA, California, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley
Fine but nothing special. Cherry, spices, floral and earth. Short to medium finish. Maybe better over 3 days. (85 pts.) - 2009 Château Rabaud-Promis – France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
Great showing on this with marmalade, ripe peaches, slate, dust, orange peel and lime. Medium plus finish and great concentration. Love it. (93 pts.)

- 2022 Château Bastor-Lamontagne – France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
Very light for a Sauternes and almost could be a White Blend. Lemon, spices, floral, unripe peaches and minerals. Simple stuff overall. (88 pts.)
Nice notes. Some of those wines look really good but as you said some not so good
Love how you tell it like it is.
