Well on Facebook I said there were no great Rose wines from California. The two best prior to that were from Washington (They mostly make terrible Rose) & Oregon (They make better Rose than Washington and California on average). All Domestic Rose Wines I have tasted.
- 2024 Big Table Farm Laughing Pig Rosé – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (10/12/2025)
Not many Rose wines were all the users agree. Had this in July and revisiting today and some awesome stuff. Strawberries, spice, floral, earth, dust, minerals and cherry notes. Medium plus finish and thinking Thanksgiving wine already. (92 points)
- 2021 Hoquetus Wine Co Rosé Seven Hills Vineyard – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (7/21/2024)
Day 1: Diam 10. Well found a Rose over 91 points from Washington. Even Cayuse was not there for me. This one is how Rose should be made. Bold style with cherry, rose petals, dust, minerals and matchstick. Nice acidity and medium finish. Drink now. 92 points
Day 2: Similar to day 1 but recommend consume on day 1. Love the bright cherry on this Rose along with spice, dust, minerals, flint and rose petals. Complex and medium plus finish. 91 points
Recommendation: This will drink well for a few more years and wish others would take notes on how to make a Washington State Rose. This is not your local tourist style. (92 points)
Well Adam Lee reached out to me and sent me two samples of his Rose made by his wife Morét-Brealynn. Normally when this happens over half of the samples I reach don’t get published as I don’t base scores on free samples but clearly the wine. Probably why I don’t get many free samples but I am fine with being independent. They arrived earlier this week and decided to do a 3 day wine review on one of the bottles.
On to the wine. This is not Tavel like but about as good as a domestic Rose you will find and would be great with food, on the patio on a 90 degree day in the shade of course or just drinking it solo. Cheers to Adam Lee and Morét-Brealynn.
- 2024 Morét-Brealynn Rosé of Pinot Noir – USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands (10/23/2025)
Day 1: Outstanding quality with nice acidity. Strawberries, watermelon, spice, dust, rose petals and stone. Very complex for a Rose and I drink them at room temperature and this is outstanding quality. Yes sir! 91+
Day 2: Even better. Drinking these around 65 degrees. Full flavor of course. Chery, watermelon, spice, rose petals, stone, strawberries and dust. Medium plus finish and this drinks well on its own so a serious wine for sure. Nice acidity. 92 points
Day 3: Excellent and holding form of the quality of day 2. Love the fruit featuring cherry, watermelon and strawberries. Nice acidity and also features rose petals, stone, dust and some earth. Medium finish. 92 points
Recommendation: Highly recommended. For me to give a domestic Rose 90 is tough but this is better than that. (92 points)
