2011 Upchurch Right UP my Alley

Well I have tried a lot of Washington State wines but never an Upchurch Cabernet. Well that will now change as will be seeking back vintages on WineBid. 2011 was not a great vintage according to these “pros” but it has turned out to offer some great wines from Washington. Here are all the notes on 2011 Washington State wines I have sampled. Funny as on Cellar Tracker a user that loves to comment, I do as well said no wine improves on day 2 or 3 or stays consistent. Man is he wrong.

Here is the note:

  • 2011 Upchurch Cabernet Sauvignon Upchurch – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Red Mountain (11/20/2025)
Day 1: About half of tracker average and just purchased. Love wine auctions. This is outstanding. Natural cork. Cherry, plum, menthol, spice, crushed flowers, light wood and blue currants. Great fruit on this one. Medium finish and love it. 94 points
Day 2: Plenty left in the tank on this one. Cassis, cherry, blueberries, plum, spices, chalk, crushed flowers, menthol and some wood. Medium plus finish and complex offering. Great value as well. 94 points
Day 3: Still holding form. Cassis, blueberries, spice, earth, menthol, wood, spices and forest floor. Medium plus finish. 94 points
Recommendation: Great wine and on auctions sometimes. Need to try more vintages. (94 points)
