2023 Patricia Green Ribbon Ridge Tasting

Well this was a rare treat to be able to taste all of the Patricia Green 2023s with Jim Anderson at a private table in the vineyards. What a unique experience. They were all showing well even this young and for sure will improve with age. We also had a few bonus wines at the tasting room which I am including first in this post.

  • Tasted in the Tasting Room
  • 2021 Patricia Green Cellars Chardonnay Estate – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge (7/8/2025)
Tasted at the winery and features sour apple, stone, grapefruit, white flowers and spice. Complex offering with medium finish. (92 points)

Tasted in the Vineyards

  • 2023 Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir Estate Old Vine Ribbon Ridge – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge (7/8/2025)
This wine was a bit more concentrated than the Estate Vineyard. Dark cherry, strawberries, minerals, earth, rose petals and saline. Vineyards are Winery Block, Hallelujah Block, Sammy’s Block, West Etzel Block and Patty’s Block. A tremendous value at $45.00 retail. (94 points)
  • 2023 Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir Estate Patty’s Block – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge (7/8/2025)
This is about 2 acres and was planted with Pommard clowns in 1998. This is the former Lakeview Block and now pays homage to Patricia Green. Wonderful showing young with cherry, rose petals, dust, earth, minerals and strawberries. Complex and medium plus finish. This will drink well for 15 years easily. 194 cases $85.00 retail. (94 points)
  • 2023 Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir Coury Clone Estate Vineyard – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge (7/8/2025)
Violets, spice, minerals, strawberries, plum, earth and mild smoke. Medium finish and this will drink well now, later and beyond. 93+ (93 points)
  • 2023 Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir Estate Etzel Block – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge (7/8/2025)
Super balanced wine. Sour cherry, perfume, dried flowers, earth, minerals and dried herbs. Medium finish and nice acidity. This will age nicely for 15 plus years. (93 points)
  • 2023 Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir Estate Vineyard Ribbon Ridge – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge (7/8/2025)
Well this was a fun tasting with Jim Anderson. Notes will be from memory but we tried 9 of the Ribbon Ridge wines on the grounds. Wonderful experience. This was the most approachable wine of the flight and had nice fruit. Some earth and floral notes on the finish. (93 points)
  • 2023 Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir Ridgecrest Vineyard – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge (7/8/2025)
Planted in 1982 and at 600 foot elevation. Mushrooms, minerals, spice, raspberries, floral and earth. Concentrated wine and medium plus finish. Nice acidity. 289 cases $85.00 retail. (93 points)
  • 2023 Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir Wadensvil Block Estate Vineyard – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge (7/8/2025)
Nice earthiness to this wine with lighter fruits than the Old Vine. Raspberries, sour cherry, earth, baking spices, dust and floral notes. Medium plus finish and nice acidity. Will be rewarded with cellaring. 93+ (93 points)
  • 2023 Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir Wind Ridge Vineyard – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge (7/8/2025)
The Wind Ridge is linked to Ridgecrest Vineyard which was the first vineyard planted in Ribbon Ridge AVA in 1982. Third bottling of this particular wine. 100% whole cluster. Strawberries, underbrush, spice, dust, flowers, sour cherry and earth. Very complex wine that will improve over time. 246 cases produced and $55.00 retail. (93 points)
