Wines of Sagemoor Part 2 (3 Day Reviews)

I will say the wines from Sagemoor Cellars are impressive. The 3 Cabernets all shined but most impressed with the White Blend ($20) & the Rose ($30). The Rose is up there with the best I have tasted in the past few years.

At Taste Washington talking with Kent Waliser was a truly enjoyable experience. While the Events Friday-Sunday were busy he still had time to talk wine geek stuff with me and still pour for everyone else.

Sagemoor has been around the wine scene in Washington for 50 years which by French Standards not a long time but for Washington they are pioneers. All of their vineyards are deemed certified sustainable and the wines are crafted in the traditional style which I love. No high Residual Sugar type wines here.

With over 1,300 acres of planted vineyards they for sure are a large operation and look at these vineyards they are working with: Bacchus, Dionysus, Gamache, Sagemoor, Weinbau & Southwind. For more information on their history click here.

Here are my my reviews and Taste Washington Weekend Reviews.

  • 2024 Wines of Sagemoor Rosé Gamache – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (4/25/2026)
Glasvin Universal. Natural cork. Blend of Syrah, Grenache and Viognier. This is how a Rose should be made. Drink this with a burger or steak. Strawberries, watermelon, spices, rose petals, dust, earth and minerals. More intense than most of the watered down stuff. Love it. 92 points (92 points)
  • 2022 Wines of Sagemoor Estate White Washington – USA, Washington (4/22/2026)
Day 1: Glasvin Universal. Composite Cork. Warm these great whites up people. Out of the fridge you miss out! At 65 degrees outstanding with honeysuckles, orange peel, spices, lemon, white flowers, tangerine and a light pepper. Super complex offering and outstanding value at $20 retail. Delille Chaleur Estate Blanc level and we know that is a huge complement from me. 92 points
Day 2: Put this up blind against Delille and should be an interesting contest. Very vibrant wine with white flowers, apricots, lemon, tangerine, honeysuckles, mild spice and sour apple. Nice acidity. Loving this one now and for the summer heat. 92 points
Recommendation: Well this did not make it to day 3 if that says anything. Excellent value and one of the better deals in Washington right now. (92 points)
  • 2019 Wines of Sagemoor Cabernet Sauvignon Stars in a Row – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (4/22/2026)
Day 1: Glasvin Kane. 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot An hour of air making the difference. Cherry, dust, floral, Cassis, earth, wood and cigar notes. Complex offering and medium plus finish. Excellent quality and should improve over a few days. 93-95.
Day 2: Outstanding. Menthol, Cassis, earth, wood, cigar, floral, raspberries and dust. Loving this wine. 94 points
Day 3: Cassis, menthol, earth, plum, dust, coffee beans, floral and wood. Concentrated effort and medium plus finish. Very nice wine. 94 points
Bacchus and Dionysus Vineyards in White Bluffs AVA
Recommendation: 4 hour decant if drinking now and drink through 2035. (94 points)
  • 2021 Wines of Sagemoor Cabernet Sauvignon Southwind Vineyard – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (4/21/2026)
Day 1: Glasvin Kane. Durand Opener. Natural cork. Outstanding and even better than when tasted at Taste Washington. Cassis, blueberries, coffee beans, wood, minerals, crushed pebbles, Bing cherries and floral notes. Nice acidity and tastes like a Cabernet which sometimes Walla Walla Cabs taste more like a Syrah. Look forwarded to the 3 day experience on this one. 93+
Day 2: Holding form at 93 with cherry, blueberries, coffee beans, minerals, crushed pebbles, menthol, floral notes, Cassis and earth. Very nice wine. 93 points
Day 3: Very good but again can’t quite get the 94 on this one. Blueberries, dust, smoke, coffee beans, earth, wood, floral and Cassis. Built for 10 plus years of aging. Nice stuff. 93 points
Recommendation: For sure recommended as I find too many Walla Walla Cabs tasting more like a Rocks Syrah but this one does not. (93 points)
  • 2022 Wines of Sagemoor Cabernet Sauvignon Bacchus Vineyard – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, White Bluffs (4/20/2026)
Day 1: Glasvin Kane. Composite cork. 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot. Beautiful fruit on this one featuring plum, sour cherry and black currants. Wood, dark chocolate, pencil lead, floral and earth. Nice perfume element on the medium plus finish. 93+
Day 2: Loving this on day 2. Very balanced and offering cherry, plum, pencil lead, earth, dust, spices, dried flowers, wood and baking chocolate. Medium plus finish. For a younger Cab drinking really well right now on day 2 or about 3 hour decant. 94 points
Day 3: This is outstanding quality for the price. Top caliber stuff. Pencil lead, earth, dust, cherry, raspberries, plum, chocolate, wood and dried flowers. Nice spiciness on the medium plus finish. Loving this one. 94 poitns
Recommendation: What a great price point in regards to quality.
Aging: 18 months in 30% new French oak and 70% neutral French oak.
    Production: 497 cases (94 points)
