Well this was a treat as part of the Wine Company’s 40th Anniversary tasting yesterday. Love to see two of my favorite Aussie producers back in the MN market. Langmeil & The Standish Wine Company. What blew me away the most was the fact there was a half a bottle of the 2021 Standish (wine of the tasting) & 2021 Relic left at the end. Here are my reviews.

- 2023 Paper mache Grenache – Australia
Nice wine overall. Light rustic color with dust, raspberries, dried flowers, earth and pepper. Medium finish and solid value. (88 pts.) - 2020 Pollux Wines Humble Roots Shiraz Viognier – Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale
Ok one of the best values at the tasting. Spice, floral, bramble, dark currants and a touch of funk. Medium finish. Excellent value and six pack for sure. (91 pts.) - 2021 Langmeil Cabernet Sauvignon Offspring – Australia, South Australia, Barossa
Very nice. Eucalyptus, earth, cherry, minerals, dust and floral notes. Very concentrated wine but balanced. Love it. (92 pts.) - 2022 Langmeil Three Gardens Grenache Shiraz Mataro – Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley
Cherry, crushed violets, red currants, spice and a touch of pepper. Medium finish. Good overall. (88 pts.) - 2021 Langmeil Shiraz Valley Floor – Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley
Digging this wine with earth, minerals, dust, chalk, plum, black pepper and tar. Medium to long finish and tremendous value. (93 pts.)

- 2019 Bremerton Matilda Plains Cabernet Shiraz – Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, Langhorne Creek
Nice blend with 70% Cabernet/30% Shiraz. Pepper, earth, cherry, blue currants, floral and mild spice. Very flavorful wine with a medium finish. (90 pts.) - 2021 The Standish Wine Company Shiraz The Standish – Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley
Ok top 10 wine of the year candidate. At an industry event there was half a bottle left at the end of the event. Hard to believe but here is the review. Black pepper, plum, dust, minerals, smoked meats, charcoal, spice and black currants. Super concentrated wine and long finish. Brings back memories. Absolute stunner. 96.5 points (96 pts.)

- 2021 The Standish Wine Company The Relic – Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley
Sampled twice at this event. While I liked the Standish better I saw one point of improvement over time. This would be a great 3 day review. Very elegant overall with floral, dust, minerals, raspberries, Garigue, blueberries and spice. Nice finish and acidity. Need to revisit this soon. (95 pts.)
