I did not create 3 Day Wine Reviewing but for sure perfected it. No one else in the world does the volume of 3 day reviewing that the public can view and benefit from. Here are a bunch of wines that have improved over the last month.
3 day improvements of 2025
CellarTracker! 3 Day Improvements Over a Month
- 2024 Château d’Aqueria Tavel – France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Tavel (11/27/2025)
Day 1: Composite cork. unripe strawberries, watermelon, spice, earth and floral notes. So much more enjoyable than most domestic roses. 88 points
Day 2: Better than day 1 and served at room temperature which helps. Strawberries, floral, watermelon, spice, rose petals, candied pineapple and minerals. Full of flavor and love it. Will pour for friends the rest tonight. 91 points
Recommendation: Let it breath and drink warmer than those silly recommend serving temperatures. (91 pts.) - 2023 Devison Vintners Syrah Beneath The Stones Stoney Vine Vineyards – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (11/27/2025)
Day 1: Well not exactly a rockstar showing on day 1. Sweet fruit, perfume, black pepper, spice and floral notes. Not bad but for being from Stoney Vine Vineyards I expect more. Of course day 2 and 3 could see an improvement. 88 points
Day 2: Once again the best way to review wines is the 3 day approach. NO one can convince me different. This wine would have been an avoid for sure especially on the price point on day 1. Totally different wine and true to the rocks on day 2. Black pepper, stone, tar, black currants, spices, floral and iodine. Medium plus finish and excellent on day 2. 93 points
Day 3: Poured this and the 2020 smoke tainted K blind to three other wine geeks. Everyone like this a lot better and it features small berries, pepper, stone, tar, funk, smoked meat, sour cherry, earth, green olives and spices. Medium finish. Excellent on the last glass. 93 points
Recommendation: Buy especially on WineBid as go this $15 below tracker average with fees, shipping, etc. (93 pts.) - 2019 Bosquet des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape A la Gloire de mon Grand-Père – France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (12/4/2025)
Day 1: Natural cork. Full of flavor with white pepper, spices, garrigue, dark currants, minerals, crushed rocks and floral notes. Medium finish and a touch of heat on the first glass but blew off quickly. Really like this wine and could see this improving over a few days. 93 points
Day 2: Better for sure. NO heat on day 2 and showcasing white pepper, garrigue, spices, dark fruits, crushed rocks, floral, minerals and dried twigs. Lovely wine and a long life ahead. 94 points
Day 3: Yes even better. These young CDPs almost always improve over 3 days and this is not different. More intense and powerful. White pepper, Garrigue, crushed rocks, dark fruits, spices, dried flowers, underbrush and tar. Medium to long finish. A wonderful value from the Southern Rhone. 95 points
Recommendation: You won’t be disappointed in a six pack. (95 pts.) - 2022 Balboa Winery Syrah Reserve Stoney Vine Vineyard – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (12/12/2025)
Day 1: Not 21 quality. Blue currants, spices, pepper and kind of plastic taste. Weak wine for sure and hopefully improves on day 2. 80 points
Day 2: Not improving with pepper, spice, clove and light fruit. That plastic taste is still present. Easy pass. 79 points
Day 3: This is better than day 1 and 2 but super light wine overall. Sour berries, mild funk, spice, floral, meats and pepper. A nice improvement but Result of a Crush is far superior and less than this offering. 86 points
Day 4: Well can’t say enough about patience. This wine is finally drinkable on day 4. Finally is tasting like a Rocks Syrah. Green olives, smoked brisket, spices, minerals, red currants, black pepper and tar. Medium plus finish. More powerful on day 4. 92 points
Recommendation: Well now that is one of the bigger success stories over 4 days. I would hold these until 2030. (92 pts.) - 2018 Two Hands Shiraz Ares – Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley (12/17/2025)
Day 1: Very nice wine but not a great wine. Tar, raspberry, white pepper, blue currants, floral and earth. Medium finish. 93+
Day 2: Much better on day 2 and no one should be surprised on this Aussie wines. White pepper, eucalyptus, spices, raspberries, black currants, dust, wood, tar, minerals and earth. This is a really good Ares with potential to gain some points over the years. 95+
Day 3: Very elegant on day 3 with blueberries, spices, coffee beans, tar, white pepper, eucalyptus, earth and wood. Balanced and medium plus finish. Very solid effort at $75.00 a bottle. 95 points
Recommendation: Yes. (95 pts.) - 2010 Reynvaan Family Vineyards Syrah The Unnamed – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (12/20/2025)
Day 1: Still holding form and natural cork. Little bricking. White pepper, stone, blue currants, iodine, floral, green olives and tar. Medium plus finish. Most enjoyable. 94 points
Day 2: Winning again on day 2. More intense and exciting. Green olives, blue currants, smoked brisket, tar, white pepper, floral, earth, exotic spices and stone. True Walla Greatness. What a beautiful wine. 95+
Day 3: OK just made the 3 Day top 20 of the year. This is why I do 3 Day and if you are not doing it you are missing out! Majestic with green olives, white pepper, dust, exotic spices, stones, crushed rocks, blue currants, tar, smoked brisket and iodine. Long finish and amazing. Thanks to Matt and the team. 96.5 points
Recommendation: Back up the truck. (96 pts.) - 2021 Gård Vintners Malbec Lawrence Vineyards – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Royal Slope (12/6/2025)
Day 1: Composite Closure. Glad I only pay $23 for this. Very light wine. Spice, floral, raspberries and dust. Not much going on and easy pass. 82 points
Day 2: Mark1 will not be pleased as this has improved a lot on day 2. He said no wine improves on day 2. The light fruit has transformed to plum, blueberries and strawberries. Dust, floral, spice, minerals and iron. Medium plus finish. Very nice wine. 91 points
Day 3: Dark berries, plum, spices, menthol, spices, dust, minerals, underbrush and violets. Very concentrated effort that didn’t show well on day 1. Another day 3 winner! 91+
Recommendation: A good wine but not great. Would never pay full boat at $50 out of the winery. (91 pts.) - 2023 Morgen Long Chardonnay Black Label – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (12/20/2025)
Day 1: cw3 closure. Cloudy wine similar to a Wild Bee from Big Table. What a great value for $30 with shipping. Seth does it again. A lighter style for the Morgen wines but balanced. Lemon, spices, matchstick, dust and white flowers. A great introduction to what Willamette chardonnay can be. 90 points
Day 2: Solid and showing a little more intensity. Matchstick, lemon, spices, white flowers, dust, orange peel and wood. Medium finish. Very nice. 91 points
Day 3: Why color means nothing as mentioned on day 1 a bit cloudy. Who cares as long as the wine is good. Picked up some weight on day 3. Carmel, wood, spices, matchstick, dust, white flowers, lemon and orange peel. Longer finish and more enjoyable. Wow value alert. 92 points
Recommendation: Again why I do day 3 review. Young wine that improved every day. Cheers to Seth. (92 pts.) - 2016 Fattoria di Fèlsina Berardenga Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia – Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Classico DOCG (12/23/2025)
Day 1: Got a pasta dinner on Wednesday so thought open on day 1 and really not impressed with this one. Tastes like a cheap Chianti and no the bottle is not flawed or any issues. Spice, rose petals, red currants and earth. Maybe this will open up over a few days but this is $45 I will never get back. 80 points
Day 2: Left the cork off all night and air helped but still disappointed compared to other vintages. Rustic with spice, earth, wood, rose petals, raspberries and dried twigs. Medium finish. 88 points
Day 3: Well another successful story with the 3 Day Wine Approach. Didn’t invent it but perfected it. This is way more open for business and while it improve 10 points so many better options for less money. Mild funk, raspberries, wood, earth, leather, spices and rose petals. Short to medium finish. 90 points
Recommendation: I would buy 19 over this all day long. (90 pts.)
Awesome
Thanks Michael and good to see someone appreciates the effort. Cheers, John
