Willamette Valley & Walter Scott

Well for sure Walter Scott would be in everyone’s top 10 list out of Willamette Valley. I have limited notes on them but that is going to change as I have been buying them up via auction and will be out there in August for a visit. Cheers to two wines with some age holding up beautifully.

  • 2016 Walter Scott Pinot Noir Dubay – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola – Amity Hills (6/6/2026)
Day 1: Glasvin Obsession and diam 10. Longest cork I have seen a while. Durand got a workout. Wow is this drinking well at almost a decade. Soy, strawberries, minerals, dust, rose petals, earth, mushrooms and spices. Medium plus finish and in a great spot. 94 points
Day 2: Good but not at the level of day 1. Cranberry, smoke, soy, minerals and floral notes. Medium finish. 91 points
Recommendation: Pop and pour and consumer now. (94 points)
  • 2017 Walter Scott Chardonnay Justice Vineyard – USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola – Amity Hills (6/6/2026)
Day 1: Glasvin Kane. Diam closure. Well love this wine and reductive style for sure. Matchstick, sour apple, lemon, spices, dust, wood, stone and lemon. Medium plus finish. Love it. 93 points
Day 2: Almost at a decade this is going to drink well through 2030. Wow! Electric wine with matchstick, lemon, Carmel, wood, spices, dust, stone and tropical fruit. Oregon for the quality is the best Chardonnay in the world. Can’t get much from California or Burgundy for this price point at this level. 94 points
Recommendation: For $60 not many better Chardonnay’s on the market. Outstanding quality. (94 points)
