Well I didn’t count on going until the last day of January to disrupt a wine but we finally got one. Another Caymus crap wine. Guy asks for a wine recommendation at Total Wine and brings this crap and finishes dead last.
Well after tasting 500 wines this past week this is one of two that needs to be disrupted from Washington. The 2020 was off the charts balanced and good from a tough vintage. However this one just lick the side of a new French Oak barrell and enjoy.
- 2021 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (3/22/2026)
Glasvin universal. The 2020 was balanced and this is a hot mess. Spices, over oaked, blue currants and coffee beans. Not drinkable at the moment. (80 points)

I have not enjoyed Mollydooker wines for many years now and this is no exception. What a hot mess this wine is.
- 2020 Mollydooker Shiraz Blue Eyed Boy – Australia, South Australia
Sampled out of a Glasvin universal. Well this wine is get disrupted. What an absolute mess of a wine. I have found recent vintages of good Aussie producers dialing it back on alcohol and in your face styles. This is in your face and a hot mess. First I get the heat and tastes like it was aged in a charred Bourbon barrel. Eucalyptus, WOOD, spices and hard to detect fruit hiding in this mess of a wine. I don’t think 3 days would save this one and I am not willing to buy a bottle to find out. Not even the Mollydooker Shake could save this one. 16.5% alcohol. (75 pts.)

- 2021 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon 1858 Napa Valley – USA, California, Napa Valley
Well a member of the club asked Total Wine for a recommendation and that is never a good thing. My first wine disrupted in 2026 and this is a top 10 worst wine of the year candidate. Artificial sweetener, dirt and smoke. Not much going on here other that it is a very difficult wine to drink. (60 pts.)

Same night 2nd wine disrupted. The scores on this wine are off the charts and I have seen this game before. Tasted this blind and hated it. At first got a smoke taint vibe.
- 2018 Leonetti Cellar Aglianico Serra Pedace Vineyard – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
What a strange wine. Again Washington brining these grapes usually are not a good fit and this is one of the more expensive wines I would never buy. Tasted blind and got ash tray, lacks fruit, spice and floral notes. Compared to the other 3 wines at the table it was dead last. Sad part is the guy who brought this could have finished top 3 with a Saviah Funk Syrah but choose not to bring it. (81 pts.)
