Well if you ever want to surprise people on a lower priced wine blind against some $50 and up wines then get a Result of a Crush in the mix. The first time I did this it beat out a Cayuse and Reynvaan and this time it beat one of my personal favorites the 2010 In the Rocks from Reynvaan. Here are the results:
CellarTracker! 4 Blind Syrah’s/Shiraz (Results Impress)
- 2005 Oliverhill Winery Shiraz Jimmy Section – Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale (7/11/2025)
Day 1: Still life left and have always enjoy the Oliverhill Jimmy’s. Black pepper, spices, blackberries, dried flowers, soy and raspberries. Medium plus finish. 93 points (93 pts.) - 2010 Reynvaan Family Vineyards Syrah In the Rocks – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (7/12/2025)
Violets, spice, vibrant red fruits, earth, tar, stone and green olives. Complex wine and medium plus finish. Drink now to 2030. (93 pts.) - 2014 Result of a Crush Red Wine – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley (7/12/2025)
Tasted blind and again I have said these wines get lower scores because of price. This beat 2010 Reynvaan in the rocks and the 2022 Mark Ryan Wild Eyed. Rocks, green olives, white pepper, green pepper, dust, stone and red currants. Off the charts and excellent wine. Long finish. (96 pts.) - 2022 Mark Ryan Syrah Wild Eyed Red Mountain – USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Red Mountain (7/12/2025)
Black pepper, spice, floral, mint, dust, earth and lavender. Very complex wine and nice finish. No hurry to drink these (93 pts.)
